How To Achieve Lifelong Good Health By Debbie Piltin
Probably the most important thing in live is good health. Without good
we may experience debilitating diseases and an unnecessarily short life span. It's fairly easy to achieve good health, but it involves certain changes in your life style that are sometimes difficult to do at first. The most important to remember is to begin slowly and try to make small changes at first.
The most important facet of good is adequate exercise. Exercises help us achieve good by strengthening our cardio-vascular system, strengthening our muscle mass and reducing the affect of stress on the body. To ensure that exercises do not appear to be chores, it is best to find exercises that you enjoy doing rather than those that you dread. For those who prefer to be outdoors, trekking, hiking, jogging or running may be the appropriate exercise to take up. On the other hand, for those who enjoy swimming, membership to a local pool may be the answer.
Alternate methods of exercises are slowly becoming very popular. Amongst those that are really catching on is yoga. This is a very popular form of exercise that helps to strengthen your body, helps you lose weight, and is great as a stress reliever. Another alternate exercise is Pilates that addresses the core strength of your abdominals. The moot point is that whatever your interest may be, you are sure to find an alternate form of exercise that would ensure good health.
Another essential part of achieving and maintaining good is changing eating habits to a healthy eating style. Poor eating habits sometimes seem like an especially daunting task - most people try to completely
change what they eat. Instead of a radical change, try starting off slowly with something simple, such as adding a small salad to your dinner, or try a piece of fruit or cheese for dessert rather than ice cream. You don't need to eliminate all junk foods entirely, but if you make an effort to only eat them in moderation and make sure the bulk of what you consume is nutritious and full of vitamins and minerals, you'll move a long way towards healthy eating.
One thing to work towards eliminating in your diet is over- processed foods. Some people rely upon the convenience of pre-packaged frozen foods that they can just pop in the microwave for a few minutes and create a "complete" meal.
As a healthier choice, try making several nutritious meals on Sunday night and freezing portions of it. This way you have the convenience of fast meals but you also know what's gone into them. Just by making small changes such as this you can be eating healthier in no time.
If you smoke or drink excessively then your good depends on you quitting these habits. A few drinks now and again are fine, and small amounts of red wine are actually good for you, but there is no such exception for smoking. If you smoke, go talk to your doctor about quitting immediately. Smoking is dangerous to your and to those around you. The sooner you quit the sooner your body can begin to repair the years of damage you've done.
If you want it - good is easy to achieve. All you need is a few small changes in your diet and lifestyle. Take stairs instead of the elevator, have a salad instead of fries, go for some exercises or a walk - small steps shall make a difference. Smoking is something that has to be given up if you want to enjoy good well into your golden years.
